Annual National Māori Hockey Tournament 2025

Hosted by: Tāmaki Makaurau Māori Hockey, 24-27 Oct 2025

Location: Counties Manukau Hockey,
33-39 Beresford Street, Pukekohe 2120

Games will be played at Counties and ACG Strathallan.

The National Tournament is held every year over Labour Weekend and is an official listing on the NZ Hockey Federation calendar of events.

Contact your Rohe Delegate or Kaunihera for information on team trials and registrations. Participation is open to individuals of Māori descent affiliated with their representative rohe, ensuring a strong connection to ancestral lands and communities that enhances cultural understanding and authenticity.


TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE

Friday: Pōwhiri at 1pm followed by the first round of games
Saturday: Games continued
Sunday: Semi-finals & Pō Whakangahau
Monday: Finals, awards & Poroporoaki at 3pm


PŌ WHAKANGAHAU

We want to emphasise the importance of coming together to share tikanga through kapa haka, waiata, and kai. This is a time to celebrate our connections, strengthen relationships, and honour the values that unite us. The evening will also include the announcement of the tāne and wāhine selected for the U21 NZ Māori Representative Team, as well as the presentation of Life Member Awards.

ROSA BIRCH PARK
Beresford Street, Pukekohe

Nestled in the heart of Pukekohe, Rosa Birch Park is a prominent green space within
the Counties Manukau region. This expansive park is centrally located and easily
accessible, bordered by Beresford Street and West Street, with additional pedestrian
access from Puni Road. It serves as a vibrant community hub, offering a mix of open
sports fields, playgrounds, and pathways, making it a popular destination and the
perfect location to host this year’s tournament.

ACG STRATHALLAN SCHOOL
50 Hayfield Way, Karaka

ACG Strathallan is beautifully situated in the semi-rural suburb of Karaka, offering a
serene and spacious campus environment just south of Auckland. A peaceful setting
away from the inner-city bustle, getting to the school is straightforward. Take the
Karaka/State Highway 22 exit and from there, head west onto Hingaia Road. Turn right
onto Oakland Rd then left onto Hayfield Way and you’ll find the turf a short drive down
on your left-hand side.
